Wendy Given is an artist/curator with a production of vivid, uncanny contemporary photography, sculpture, drawing, and installation. Her visual practice stems from and is profoundly guided by the more-than-human, by myth, magic, and the unseen. Given’s visual craft conveys an intense yearning to honor and awaken humankind’s inherent awareness—to regain the unspoken understanding of the fact that we are all fundamentally interconnected to and dependent on the Earth, the home She generously provides, and Her environmental systems. Given studied painting, printmaking, photography, and sculpture during her BFA undergraduate work at Atlanta College of Art in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, California. Given has exhibited nationally and internationally and is represented by Whitespace Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. She is currently the Art Program Manager for the Port of Portland and Portland International Airport (PDX) in Oregon, is a wilderness guide, and a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR).
